Job Overview

A law firm seeks a talented and motivated associate with 2 to 4 years of experience in AI, copyright, trademark, trade secret, and/or false advertising law to join its intellectual property and technology litigation practice in San Francisco, California. The firm is at the forefront of high-profile cases, including defending major technology companies in generative AI litigation, and maintains a nationwide team of renowned first-chair trial lawyers.

Duties

• Manage intellectual property and technology litigation and enforcement matters across copyright, trademark, trade secret, false advertising, and AI sectors.


• Develop comprehensive litigation and enforcement strategies while counseling clients on legal risks related to product development.


• Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis, demonstrating strong legal writing and verbal communication skills.


• Manage the discovery phase of litigation, including coordinating with clients and vendors for e-discovery processes.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver holistic legal solutions and work effectively as a team player.


 

Requirements

• 2 to 4 years of experience in AI, trademark, copyright, false advertising, and/or trade-secret law, including litigation.


• Strong understanding of the Lanham Act, the Copyright Act, the DMCA, federal and state trade-secret statutes, and computer-access laws such as the CFAA.


• Willingness to engage with a broad range of laws and legal principles to support technology clients with legal disputes.


• Highly motivated with excellent academic credentials and superior writing and communication skills.


• Membership in the State Bar of California is required.


 

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.


 

Certifications

• Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.


 

Skills

• Trial experience is preferred.


• Expertise in data-collection disputes under the CFAA and related state laws.


• Ability to practice in multiple forums, including federal court, state court, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, the ITC, and arbitral proceedings such as the UDRP process.


• Strong client-facing skills and ability to apply litigation expertise to counsel on enforcement strategies and risk.
