Job Overview

A law firm seeks a lateral associate to join its Litigation Group in New York, New York, focusing on employment matters. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years of experience in a law firm's employment group, preferably on the management side. Candidates with prior government experience, such as with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or similar agencies, are encouraged to apply. This role is not open to current law students.

Duties

• Draft employment and separation agreements.
• Advise on terminations and restrictive covenants.
• Conduct workplace investigations and manage reductions in force.
• Prepare employer handbooks and conduct employment diligence for transactions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws.

Requirements

• Minimum of four years of experience in employment law.
• Experience on the management side in a law firm.
• Prior government experience is a plus.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in New York State.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
• Ability to work with executive compensation and other practice groups.
