Job Overview

A law firm seeks a New York-Barred Litigation Associate to support its practice in Pittsburgh, PA, with a remote work arrangement. This role offers the opportunity to handle diverse civil litigation matters, including professional liability and labor law, within a collaborative environment that balances large-firm resources with personalized mentorship.

Duties

• Represent clients in all phases of litigation, from initiation through expert discovery, in matters involving professional liability or labor and employment.


• Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences as required.


• Conduct complex legal research, draft discovery requests and responses, and prepare motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda.


• Negotiate with opposing counsel to settle claims and communicate closely with clients to provide legal analysis and status updates.


 

Requirements

• Must be admitted to the New York Bar with a strong familiarity with New York law and procedure.


• Previous experience in civil litigation is required, with a preference for candidates who have drafted discovery, led depositions, and argued motions.


• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding environment while managing multiple priorities.


 

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.


 

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the State of New York.


 

Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong organizational abilities.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).


• Proficiency in LexisNexis legal research software.
