Job Overview

A law firm in New York, United States, seeks an experienced Associate for its Mid-Level Commercial Litigation practice. This hybrid role requires a minimum of four days per week in the office, including mandatory attendance on Mondays. The position focuses on complex commercial and securities litigation, offering a dynamic environment for professional growth and client engagement.

Duties

• Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis on securities and complex commercial matters using Westlaw and other tools.


• Draft and prepare a full range of pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, responses, and legal correspondence.


• Manage all aspects of the discovery process, including document production, interrogatories, and exhibit organization.


• Participate in depositions, court conferences, hearings, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.


• Develop and implement case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys and assist with trial preparation.


• Maintain ongoing client communication, provide legal advice, and offer regular updates on case progress.


• Conduct interviews with clients and witnesses, and attend client meetings to negotiate settlements when appropriate.


 

Requirements

• 4 to 6 years of litigation experience in a law firm setting, with specific focus on securities and complex commercial litigation.


• Strong knowledge of civil procedure, evidence rules, and experience practicing in both state and federal courts.


• Proficiency in legal research and case management software, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases and priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.


• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation abilities.


 

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.


 

Certifications

• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in New York.


• Admission in New Jersey is a plus.
