Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Business Development Attorney in Washington, DC to support intake and employee outreach efforts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong client service mentality and a deep understanding of case evaluation, intake, and client management. This role requires physical presence in the firm's New York, Washington DC, or Oakland office at least two days per week, reporting to the Director of Business Development and Communications.

Duties

• Screen potential clients based on established criteria.
• Advise potential clients on class action approaches and serving as class representatives.
• Collaborate with attorneys to complete initial consultations and client-intake processes.
• Identify new clients and advance business development objectives.
• Track and report progress, maintaining client information in databases.
• Proactively assume other duties as necessary.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a plaintiff-side law firm.
• Strong sales skills and ability to exercise initiative, good judgment, and discretion.
• Strong organizational, verbal, written, and in-person communication skills.
• Ability to show empathy and patience with a genuine desire to help people.
• Understanding of attorney advertising and solicitation rules.
• Adherence to firm policies regarding confidential data protection.
• Clear communication and attention to detail.
• Flexibility and ability to respond to shifting demands.
• Ownership of projects and ability to work well within a team.
• Enthusiasm for advocating employee rights.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Member of the California, New York, or Washington DC bar, as applicable.
