Duties

• Represent clients in state and federal courts and administrative proceedings.
• Develop impact litigation and advocacy strategies.
• Collaborate with staff and outside counsel on legal matters.
• Comply with professional and internal case management requirements.
• Provide support and technical assistance to staff and external groups.
• Design and lead training sessions as requested.
• Assist with agency reporting obligations.
• Participate in task forces, policy groups, and coalitions.
• Attend team and agency-wide meetings as required.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice law in Michigan with active State Bar membership.
• Minimum of three years' relevant litigation experience.
• Experience in complex litigation, including Medicaid and ADA cases.
• Ability to lead litigation in federal and state courts.
• Valid Michigan identification and ability to travel as needed.
• Commitment to civil rights and working with diverse disability characteristics.
• Administrative hearing experience is highly desired.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle confrontational situations.
• Technological proficiency in legal document creation and case management systems.
• Interest in public interest law, preferably in disability rights.
• Experience with or as a person with disabilities preferred.
• Successful completion of a background check.

Education

• Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in the state of Michigan.
