A law firm seeks a Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney to join its growing team in New Haven, CT. This role focuses on advising clients on privacy compliance, cybersecurity incident response, and data governance within the Healthcare, Life Sciences, and Technology sectors. The position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for remote work two days per week.

Duties

• Advise clients on privacy compliance, including U.S. state, federal (GLBA, HIPAA), and global (GDPR) regulations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate privacy policies, data processing agreements, and related documentation.
• Manage cybersecurity incident response, including breach response, ransomware events, and regulator engagement.
• Support time-sensitive cybersecurity matters, including those requiring availability outside regular business hours.
• Advise on the use of cookies, tracking technologies, and data collection practices.

Requirements

• 3-6 years of experience in data privacy and cybersecurity law.
• Admission to the bar in the jurisdiction of residence and in good standing.
• Excellent drafting, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and technical abilities.
• Proven ability to manage complex matters with accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills

• Experience with data governance, information risk, retention, records, and vendor risk.
• Knowledge of data transfers and regulatory risk assessments.
• Experience in privacy and cybersecurity due diligence for M&A transactions.
• Ability to counsel clients on regulatory investigations before the FTC, HHS, and state attorneys general.
