Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Principal Regulatory Attorney with at least seven years of experience in FDA compliance to join its Consumer Brands practice in Washington, D.C. This role involves leading regulatory strategy for clients in food, beverage, supplements, and cosmetics, while supporting sophisticated financing, M&A, and commercial transactions.

Duties

• Advise clients on FDA regulatory compliance, including labeling, packaging, advertising claims, and ingredient safety for consumer products.



• Lead regulatory due diligence and risk management for M&A, financing, and investment transactions involving consumer brands.



• Counsel on inspections, enforcement actions, recalls, and emerging federal and state regulatory developments.



• Negotiate and draft commercial agreements, including manufacturing, supply, distribution, and co-packing contracts.



• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support clients through formation, strategic partnerships, and liquidity events.

Requirements

• At least seven years of experience advising clients on FDA regulatory compliance matters.



• Substantial experience with food, beverage, dietary supplements, cosmetics, or other consumer products.



• Experience advising on USDA regulatory compliance matters.



• Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with ability to become admitted in the office jurisdiction.



• A portable book of business and demonstrated interest in developing client relationships.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction.

Skills

• Experience with CPSC, FTC, or other federal/state regulatory regimes affecting consumer products is desired.



• Experience negotiating commercial agreements in the consumer brands or consumer products industries is desired.



• Experience advising on regulatory issues in M&A, financing, and investment transactions is desired.



• Experience with intellectual property protection, licensing, and brand-related matters is preferred.



• Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills with sound business judgment.



• Ability to work collaboratively across practices and independently while managing multiple matters efficiently.
