Job Overview

A law firm seeks an SIU Litigation Attorney with at least two years of experience for its Purchase, NY office. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in combating insurance fraud and will utilize their litigation and investigative skills to defend against fraudulent claims and bring affirmative actions, including RICO-based litigation.

Duties

• Partner with SIU departments to defend against fraudulent claims.
• Research, prepare, file, and litigate fraud actions, including RICO and other affirmative actions.
• Prepare litigation strategies and negotiate complex matters.
• Review file assignments and strategize for resolution.
• Propound discovery and draft motions, memorandums, and legal briefs.
• Prepare for and conduct depositions and examinations under oath.
• Attend arbitrations, mediations, and trials, including expert witnesses.
• Prepare and conduct court appearances in State and Federal Court.
• Draft pre and post-trial motions in Federal and State Courts.
• Negotiate settlements and draft related documents.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of litigation experience.
• Strong legal writing and negotiation skills.
• Experience with RICO and affirmative litigation preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in New York State.
