Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior General Liability Attorney in Chicago, Illinois. This role offers a flexible, hybrid working arrangement and requires a proactive attorney with extensive experience in general insurance defense matters, including transportation, premises liability, construction, products liability, and general liability.

Duties

• Manage a litigation caseload from inception to resolution.
• Participate actively in trials, including preparation and courtroom appearances.
• Conduct legal research and draft legal documents.
• Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations.
• Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients.
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments and offices.
• Draft case analysis reports for client stakeholders.

Requirements

• Admitted to practice in the state of Illinois.
• 15+ years of general casualty litigation experience.
• First and/or second chair experience strongly desired.
• Trial experience required.
• Insurance defense experience is required.
• Experience in general liability, premises liability, products liability, construction, and transportation.
• Experience with emerging e-commerce/gig economy legal issues preferred.
• Deposition and motion practice experience required.
• Superior analytical skills.

Education

• JD from an ABA accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in Illinois.
