Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate in the Tax Department specializing in Executive Compensation, Employment, and Benefits to join its Chicago, IL office. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of two years of relevant experience to support a global practice advising clients on complex compensation, benefits, and employment matters across various industries and jurisdictions.

Duties

• Advise clients on a full spectrum of corporate transactions, including multi-billion dollar mergers, acquisitions, and capital markets deals.



• Tailor compensation arrangements and address complex multi-jurisdictional employment and employee benefits issues.



• Optimize plan design to account for tax and securities law considerations while ensuring commercial practicality.



• Collaborate with cross-office colleagues to provide insights on tax, securities, labor, and corporate governance matters.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of experience in benefits and compensation law.



• Demonstrated ability to handle challenging compensation, employee benefits, and employment issues.



• Experience working with diverse clients, including financial institutions, private equity firms, and emerging growth companies.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills

• Sophisticated understanding of the legal landscape, market practice, and conditions in executive compensation.



• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on commercial and practical solutions.



• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working as an integrated part of client teams.
