Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Experienced Immigration Attorney in Miami, FL. The ideal candidate will independently analyze complex issues and identify practical, lawful solutions. Professional fluency in English and Spanish is required, with Portuguese and employment-based immigration experience considered a plus.

Duties

• Manage a diverse caseload involving family-based immigration, removal defense, asylum, humanitarian relief, waivers, naturalization, consular processing, and other immigration matters.
• Analyze complicated immigration histories and identify available forms of relief, alternative strategies, procedural options, and potential legal arguments.
• Conduct thorough legal research using authoritative sources.
• Develop strategic case plans based on facts, applicable law, and client objectives.
• Prepare and review petitions, applications, legal briefs, motions, affidavits, waivers, memoranda, and other legal filings.
• Represent clients before Immigration Courts, USCIS, and other immigration agencies.
• Advocate effectively at hearings, interviews, and other proceedings.
• Identify potential weaknesses or complications early and develop strategies to address them.
• Work closely with clients to obtain evidence, explain legal options, and provide realistic guidance.
• Collaborate with paralegals and legal staff while maintaining responsibility for legal strategy.
• Monitor changes in immigration law and apply developments strategically to client matters.
• Maintain organized and accurate case records and deadlines.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in good standing.
• Experience practicing immigration law.
• Substantive knowledge of immigration statutes, regulations, case law, and agency procedures.
• Experience with removal defense and immigration litigation strongly preferred.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and issue-spotting abilities.
• Ability to evaluate complicated facts and develop creative, legally sound solutions.
• Excellent legal writing skills, including experience drafting motions, briefs, and other filings.
• Strong courtroom and advocacy skills.
• Ability to make sound decisions and respond effectively to unexpected issues.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong judgment, initiative, attention to detail, and follow-through.
• Experience with immigration case-management systems strongly preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in good standing.
