Job Overview

A law firm in Austin, Texas, seeks an Associate Attorney with 2-10 years of experience in civil litigation and appellate practice to join its Appellate section. The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of state and federal civil and appellate procedure, along with excellent advocacy and writing skills. Litigation experience, including motion and trial practice, is preferred, and previous appellate or federal judicial clerkship experience is strongly preferred.

Duties

• Assist in handling the firm's appellate work, including drafting briefs and preparing for oral arguments.



• Support other firm sections with motion practice, trial preparation, and general litigation support.



• Attend firm trials in the capacity of appellate counsel to provide specialized strategic advice.

Requirements

• Valid Texas Bar license is required.



• 2-10 years of experience in civil litigation and/or appellate practice.



• Working knowledge of state and federal civil and appellate procedure.



• Excellent advocacy and writing skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the State of Texas.

Skills

• Strong background in motion and trial practice.



• Previous appellate and/or federal judicial clerkship experience is strongly preferred.



• Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple firm sections.
