Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, and AI Associate for their Austin, TX office. This role offers an opportunity to join a dynamic practice advising leading companies on complex privacy, cybersecurity, and AI issues. The associate will work directly with clients and take ownership of significant workstreams.

Duties

• Advise on GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy laws.
• Develop privacy and cybersecurity compliance programs.
• Design workflows for consumer rights requests.
• Advise on AI governance and emerging AI laws.
• Support data security incident response.
• Advise on ad tech compliance and digital marketing strategies.
• Support privacy aspects of M&A and other transactions.
• Assist with regulatory inquiries and investigations.

Requirements

• Three to six years of experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or AI matters.
• Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and emerging AI laws.
• Experience with incident response or AI governance preferred.
• Active bar license in the state of application or eligibility for admission.

Education

• Excellent academic record required.

Certifications

• CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or AIGP certifications preferred.

Skills

• Superb writing and negotiating skills.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to translate complex legal requirements into business advice.
• Proficiency in generative AI legal research tools.
