The candidate will manage client relationships and complex legal matters independently.

Duties

• Advise California public agency employers on labor and employment matters.
• Assist clients with labor negotiations and collective bargaining.
• Provide legal counsel on employee discipline and performance issues.
• Handle union and employee grievances.
• Represent clients in grievance arbitrations and administrative hearings.
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents.
• Develop legal strategies based on applicable law and client objectives.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients.
• Supervise and mentor junior associates and legal staff.
• Assist with practice group development and client training.

Requirements

• Must be a member of the California State Bar.
• 7+ years of experience in labor and employment law.
• Ability to supervise and train junior associates.
• Experience managing complex legal matters independently.
• Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Strong ability to manage multiple clients and priorities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Sound judgment and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience representing public agencies or municipalities.
• Experience with labor negotiations and collective bargaining.
• Experience handling employee discipline matters.
• Experience managing union grievances.
