Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced General Liability Attorney to join its Fairfax, VA office. The successful candidate will represent insurance and corporate clients in general liability matters, managing cases independently and contributing to a collaborative, growth-oriented culture.

Duties

• Manage a caseload of general liability defense matters from intake through resolution.
• Represent clients in state and federal courts, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
• Conduct legal research and draft litigation documents.
• Take and defend depositions and prepare witnesses for testimony.
• Develop and execute case strategy in coordination with clients and defense teams.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding case status and outcomes.
• Negotiate settlements and participate in mediations.
• Collaborate with partners, associates, and support staff.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant statutes, case law, and procedural rules.
• Participate in business development and networking efforts.
• Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to a team-oriented culture.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in good standing in the relevant state(s); additional bar admissions are a plus.
• Prior experience in civil litigation defense; general liability experience preferred.
• Demonstrated litigation skills, including motion practice and trial experience.
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Excellent communication and client management skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload independently while working collaboratively.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
• Interest in business development and long-term professional growth.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in good standing in the relevant state(s).
