Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Litigation Associate to join its expanding Intellectual Property team in Miami, FL. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated commercial and IP matters within a collaborative environment, supporting clients across diverse industries including technology, life sciences, and manufacturing.

Duties

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents while conducting thorough legal research.


• Take and defend depositions, manage discovery processes, and prepare for hearings and trials.


• Manage complex cases with competing deadlines, ensuring high-quality advocacy and client service.


• Participate in trial preparation and engage in direct client interaction to build strong relationships.


 

Requirements

• 4-6 years of experience in commercial or intellectual property litigation.


• Experience in patent litigation is preferred; candidates looking to develop or deepen this practice are encouraged to apply.


• Admission to practice in the relevant jurisdiction is required; admission to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is preferred but not mandatory.


• Strong writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills with the ability to work collaboratively.


 

Education

• Law degree from an accredited institution.


• A bachelor's degree in engineering or a scientific field is a plus.


 

Certifications

• Membership in good standing in the jurisdiction where the associate will practice.


• Admission to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (preferred).


 

Skills

• Proficiency in managing competing deadlines and working effectively with clients and colleagues.


• Ability to navigate federal district courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
