Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to support its New Jersey litigation practice. This remote position is based in Philadelphia, PA, offering a collaborative environment where associates receive direct mentorship from experienced partners. The role provides immediate hands-on experience in diverse civil litigation matters, including professional liability and labor law, within a firm that combines the resources of a large practice with the personal attention of a mid-size firm.

Duties

• Represent clients in all phases of litigation, from initiation through expert discovery, in matters involving professional liability or labor and employment.


• Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences, while conducting complex legal research and discovery investigations.


• Draft discovery requests and responses, motions, case evaluation summaries, court orders, settlement agreements, affidavits, pleadings, and legal memoranda.


• Review discovery responses and depositions, preparing summaries and litigation update reports, and negotiate with opposing counsel to settle claims.


• Communicate closely with clients throughout the litigation process to provide legal analysis, status reports, and strategic advice.


 

Requirements

• Must be barred in New Jersey with a strong familiarity with New Jersey law and procedure.


• Previous experience in civil litigation is required, with a preference for candidates experienced in drafting discovery, leading depositions, and arguing motions.


• Demonstrated excellent writing and organizational skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Lexis software is required.


 

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.


 

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the State of New Jersey.


 

Skills

• Strong background in civil litigation, particularly in professional liability and labor/employment matters.


• Ability to counsel clients on diverse and challenging legal issues with clarity and precision.


• Comfortable working in a flexible remote or hybrid environment, excluding court-mandated appearances.
