Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate to join its Consumer Financial Services Regulatory Compliance Practice Group in Washington, DC. This role provides the opportunity to advise depository institutions, fintechs, and other market participants on complex state and federal regulatory compliance matters, product launches, and risk management in rapidly evolving industries.

Duties

• Advise financial services providers on state and federal regulatory compliance requirements, including origination, underwriting, licensing, and servicing.



• Counsel clients on privacy, collection, asset recovery, and related regulatory matters while supporting product development and review.



• Assist clients in preparing for and responding to state and federal examinations, investigations, regulatory inquiries, and enforcement actions.



• Analyze compliance with key consumer financial laws such as TILA, FDCPA, FCRA, RESPA, SCRA, and MLA, alongside analogous state laws.



• Conduct multi-state legal research and prepare memoranda, client alerts, and other substantive work product.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of experience in financial services compliance or a related practice area.



• Familiarity with state and federal consumer financial services laws and regulatory frameworks governing origination, servicing, and licensing.



• Experience advising financial institutions, fintech companies, specialty lenders, or other regulated providers is preferred.



• Admission to practice in the jurisdiction where the candidate will reside and work, or eligibility to become admitted promptly upon hire.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.
