Profile

An established California workers’ compensation defense firm is hiring several attorneys. Attorneys here handle their own cases from initial setup through resolution or appeal, with partner oversight whenever they want it. The firm is collaborative, and it values early, realistic case evaluation and a conservative approach to billing.

No workers’ comp experience needed. The firm runs a full training program built for civil litigators with 1 to 2 years of experience who want to move into a new area of law. Experienced comp defense attorneys are also welcome.

What you’ll do

• Manage a workers’ compensation defense caseload from start to finish
• Value cases early and often, and advise clients on settlement versus continued litigation
• Build relationships with adjusters and clients
• Work with partners and associates on case strategy

What we’re looking for

• An active California bar (required). You can live anywhere as long as you work Pacific hours.
• At least 1 year of civil litigation, insurance defense or workers’ comp experience
• A stable work history. Three or more jobs in the last three years is a dealbreaker.
• A personable, client-service mindset. This is a customer service business.
• Comfort with a 220-hour monthly billable target and an honest approach to billing

Compensation

• $125,000 to $300,000 base, depending on experience
• A bonus for hitting the monthly minimum, plus larger bonuses for billing above it
• Bonuses for bringing in new files from adjuster relationships
• Fully remote, with no required office days
