Senior Deal Structurer, East – Houston, TX

In line with Shell’s goal to become a net zero carbon energy company by 2050, Shell Energy North America (“SENA”) and Renewable Energy Solutions (“RES”) are developing a menu of energy products and services to deliver against those goals.

Structurers work closely with the Sales & Origination teams, trade desks and functions to timely and accurately develop, value, mark, and manage this evolving menu.

What’s the role?

The Sr. Deal Structurer position is an intellectually challenging role that is accountable for providing thought leadership and leading development efforts in cutting edge areas of the Energy Transition. This person would be part of the larger Structured Solutions Team (SST) that partners with other Commercial staff to develop structured products for our Gas and Power Customers. SST fosters an ideas-oriented culture where Structurers are encouraged to think and bring fresh perspectives to difficult problems. Within SST resides a Modeling Team, an East Structuring Team, and a West Structuring Team. This role resides in the East Structuring Team and would primarily be tasked with working closely with the East Structurers to understand the evolving power markets and then lead model development efforts in collaboration with the Modeling Team.

Accountabilities:


Research approaches to modeling stochastic price and volume processes in various power markets.
Act as a Project Manager on East model development efforts.
Be able to create simple “spec” models to spec out a complex problem.
Work well with others by fostering a culture of trust and showing care for other team members’ perspectives.
Partner with Trading, Origination, Fundamentals, Finance, Market Risk, Credit and New Energies to develop, value, price, mark and manage the evolving menu of products and services.
Guide and mentor other members of the Structured Solutions Team.


What we need from you


Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, mathematics or similar fields or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Postgraduate PhD or MS preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Python or Matlab programming is required.
Project management experience.
Experience within the power or renewable energy sectors is a plus.
