Profile
Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies, Law School
Duties: Reports directly to the Dean, School of Law. Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of initiatives related to non-J.D. degrees and programs at the Law School. Oversee four existing LL.M. programs: (1) U.S. Legal Studies for Foreign Trained Lawyers (which qualifies graduates to sit for the New York bar exam); (2) Transnational Legal Practice; (3) International Sports Law Practice; and (4) Bankruptcy. Oversee the recruitment of students, the admissions process, student affairs-related matters, career and bar counseling, and alumni relations. Employ an entrepreneurial spirit to develop new degree programs as market conditions permit. Although it is expected that the candidate will teach at least one course in the LL.M. curriculum, this is primarily a leadership/management position and will not lead to a tenure-track appointment. As deemed necessary by the Dean of the Law School, this position will develop linkages and partnerships with foreign and domestic educational institutions, bar associations, law firms, and other institutions. Manage graduate office that includes three directors (including one who spends significant time recruiting students in Asia), an office assistant, and a Europe-based consultant. Work in a collaborative manner with other administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
