We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the Benefitfocus Platform team. This team is core to all Benefitfocus products and services, constructing a platform maximizing the speed and quality with which developers can build industry-changing capabilities.We are looking for self-driven individuals who enjoy solving complex challenges at scale. This person should have hands on experience with building and automating complex, cloud-native microservices and/or data processing platforms.Key Responsibilities:Implements high priority application software and infrastructure covering database design, epic, feature and story development, re-usable code, components, and application functionality.Ensures goals of team are being met by reporting any issues that hinder productivity or stability of product.Leads and implements features independently and completes all assigned tasks correctly and efficiently.Shows direction in improving coding standards and product lines by suggesting new ideas and methods to incorporate into our existing procedures.Works with senior engineers and architects to define the application architecture and create software design for key elements of the application.Evaluates performance of key elements of the application functionality and tunes the performance to cover the range of customer use.Performs tech design reviews and code reviews for the scrum teamsProvides scheduling estimates and assists with the scheduling process.Proven track record with planning and delivering coding assignments with high quality.Great verbal and written communication skills with Agile methodologies and other SDLC practicesOther Duties as assigned.Skills and Competencies:Bachelor's degree or comparable work experience in software development.2 years of experience in software development recommended in addition to education requirements.Java 8 (most be highly proficient)React JS (required)SQL, PL/SQL (required)RESTful API services CSSSpring BootUnit, Integration, and performance testing
