Community Health Policy Specialist
The candidate provides support for to system-wide community health initiatives, programs and program development. Assists system hospitals with federal and state community benefit reporting requirements and federally mandated community health needs assessments. Assists with the development and implementation of programs responsive to System hospitals community health needs assessments including work with community health workers and social determinants of health. Collaborates with community-based organizations and participates in System' or its partners' health improvement events and programs, as needed. Serves as an System representative and liaison with community health committees and outreach events, and provides staff services to event committees and projects. Provides support for System events that may include, working with committees and vendors, preparing mailings and programs, seeking sponsorship opportunities, working on logistics and establishing follow-up strategies. Participates in event and plans committee meetings and activities. Provides appropriate follow up, as necessary. Ensures the timely distribution of all mailings for all events to includes sponsorship packages, donor acknowledgments, and thank you letters. Expands existing community health improvement marketing strategies by utilizing social media in coordination with System' media department, to actively boost exposure and increase community participation/turnout at community health events and programs. Works with external vendors, contractors, sponsors, donors and community-based organizations to develop events and programs to benefit the community and improve community-health outcomes. Assists in the preparation of written documents in support of events and programs, including correspondence, agendas, scripts, invitations, promotional materials and VIP briefings and reports. Drafts follow-up assessments of events and programs. Collaborates with the Office of Public Relations and other appropriate offices and departments within System to coordinate media coverage for special events. Reports and records financial and other relevant information for individuals, corporations, foundations and government agencies for funding and partnership contracts to promote and enhance community health, outreach and education as well as clinical support programs under health reform and related issues. Identifies, researches and writes grant and contract proposals, or assists as needed. Develops and implements departmental processes for administering and following up with grant and contract opportunities, proposals and awards. Researches, enters and maintains data and information for secured grants and data for community outreach and community health needs assessments, as needed. Researches and analyzes current trends and developing issues in healthcare law and policy, including legislative proposals and policies impacting System and the healthcare industry. Follows and contributes, as needed, to workgroups and task forces created by the legislature, healthcare agencies and other similar entities. Assesses and supports legislative, executive and regulatory activities impacting the healthcare industry. Supports legislative and healthcare agency initiatives and assists with the development of appropriate strategies for System at the local, state, and federal level. Provides support to on-going work within and/or matters before healthcare agencies and regulatory bodies including, the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the Maryland Healthcare Commission, and the Maryland Board of Physicians. Researches and prepares reports on the background, history, best practices and/or legal implications regarding new healthcare delivery policies, liability issues or other related initiatives. Contributes to special projects as directed by the Senior Vice President.
