Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent, required.
Also required are: knowledge of crime/loss prevention, investigative techniques, and applicable local, state and federal laws.
Ability to interact positively with staff, providers, patients, and visitors.
Sound judgment in evaluating and reacting to situations under emergency and high-stress conditions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong skills in the use of computers (Microsoft Word and Excel, E-mail), scanner, digital camera, and the use of special security programs including employee ID photo database, security report database, and Washington State Law.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field is preferred. Three years of increasingly responsible security experience in a healthcare setting is also preferred. IAHSS (International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety) Certification (Basic, Advanced, or Supervisor), or ability to obtain certification within 1 year of hire.
