Tax Director
The candidate will include serving our private client businesses in the Midwest region helping to solve SALT issues with a focus on income and franchise tax. Working closely with State and Local Tax National leadership you will: Stay current on all state and local tax matters and develop thought leadership content for both internal and external users. Assist with internal quality issues and internal inspections. Serve as a member of our national tax office representing the state and local tax practice. Serve as a technical resource for the national state and local tax practice and help to develop Firm positions regarding complex tax technical issues. Work closely with small to mid-sized privately held businesses developing State and Local Tax solutions that align with their business goals. The work is consulting focused, meaningful and not routine. You will help a variety of clients, in a variety of industries. Have the opportunity to continually sharpen your research, technical and client service skills by delivering a full range of State and Local Tax Services, including consulting and structuring, creation of technical memorandums, review of SALT issues related to mergers and acquisitions and support of state and local tax due diligence, conduct multi-state reviews that analyze sales and use, income and other transaction taxes to identify optimal filing options, credits, incentives, exemptions, and corporate structures that can reduce our clients’ tax burden, and high level tax return review. 8 to 10 + years’ experience providing a broad range of SALT services including sales and use, research, consulting and structuring, creation of technical memorandums, and client correspondence are required. Experience with income tax a plus. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting are required. Advanced degree or certification, such as, CPA, CMI , MST or JD are required. Strong analytical, research and writing skills are required. Ability to communicate effectively while working on multiple projects and priorities are required.
