Managing Attorney
The candidate will be responsible with managing and supervising the Student Legal Services office in its efforts to educate the students regarding their legal rights, responsibilities, and obligations. Will advise and represent students in landlord/tenant matters (such as wrongful occupation, eviction, non-return of security deposit, condemnation, over-occupancy and other habitability issue, lease violations): consumer disputes: debt collection, family law and other domestic matters, insurance law, employment grievances, contract law, expungement requests in criminal cases, and general civil law. Provide legal advice in criminal matters. Manage and supervise the Student Legal Services office in its efforts to educate the students regarding their legal rights, responsibilities, and obligations. Provide legal advice and opinions to members of the Student Government Association and firm recognized student organizations. Responsible for the work product of the employees of Student Legal Services. Shall prepare and present educational programming and publications on legal matters of interest and concern to students or as requested by the University. Works with Morgantown Code Enforcement and the Morgantown Fire Department regarding Code violations and occupancy issues.
