Staff Attorney/Energy and Climate Law Advisor
Candidate will be responsible for legal and policy related research, advocacy, and the preparation and presentation of pleadings and comments on public utility commission proceedings. Will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to generate reports, legal briefs, white papers, and other materials related to energy and the environment. Will be responsible for legal and policy related research, advocacy, and the preparation and presentation of pleadings and comments on public utility commission proceedings. Will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to generate reports, legal briefs, white papers, and other materials related to energy and the environment. Will have an active role in the Center’s engagement in utility regulatory proceedings at the NY Public Service Commission and other state regulatory agencies in NY, the Northeast, and across the U.S. Duties include docket management, assistance in preparation of expert testimony and exhibits, tracking filing deadlines, and representing the Center at case hearings and in other forums in writing and via working groups and technical conferences. Will also support the Center’s engagement with other stakeholders in proceedings and in coalitions and networks. Will have the opportunity to mentor and supervise the Center’s law student interns from the School of Law, and will facilitate intern hiring and management. Law student interns are valuable members of the Center team, and the Center’s priority is to provide an enriching experiential learning experience to exceptional students who substantively contribute to the Center’s projects and deliverables. Will also support Center staff development, fundraising and grant application processes, and interaction with Law School administration and management.
