Job Description
The GE Capital Lean Leader will serve as a facilitator, educator, advocate, consultant and accountability partner to GE Capital’s leadership team and their team members to drive the understanding and application of Lean principles and tools. While many have been trained in Lean and Six Sigma tools, GE is in the early stages of the cultural adoption of lean as an operating enabler. The GE Capital Lean Leader will:
· Collaborate with the GE Capital businesses to assess GEC’s key value streams, processes and practices as compared to lean company benchmarks, both internal and external. Establish a transformation plan based on the prioritized gaps and develop new process capability through the application of hoshin kanri and the execution of kaizen events.
· Participate in talent reviews and the hiring process, to advise leaders on the lean development needs of the team and ensure lean proficiency is considered in the hiring decision for all positions.
· Design and build organization lean capacity to coach senior leaders while transforming the key value streams.
· Partner with GEC’s Leaders and businesses to prioritize and solve problems based on voice of the customer related to safety, quality, delivery, cost and cash through the application of lean.
· Assist GEC leaders in establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and implementing daily management in Finance to drive continuous improvement.
· Establish a kaizen event rhythm within GE Capital and it’s businesses leveraging that activity to develop lean proficiency for all employees; creating internal capabilities to facilitate kaizens and sustain continuous process improvement without external support.
· Partner with the Corporate Kaizen Promotion Office and business Lean leaders to quickly deploy new, best-practice capability and process within GE Capital. Key contributor to the development and implementation of the GE lean system.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Ten-plus years of experience leading Finance/Lean in mature lean companies; prefers for candidates with experience in financial services
· Demonstrated ability in solving complex problems and transforming Finance results and process through the application of Lean techniques.
· Lean practitioner, capable of facilitating kaizen events and coaching the core tools such as Daily Visual Management, structured Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work and Transactional Process Improvement.
· Experience driving enterprise-wide transformation preferably in a major turn-around. The ideal candidate has been through complex change and tough situations; bringing a will to win with strong followership.
· Proven to be effective driving outcomes in large, matrixed organizations – understands how to navigate geographies, cultures, relationships, etc. Can drive work around the world because they are accountable, trustworthy, credible, committed, and intellectually agile.
· Change agent, able to make the case for lean and demonstrate immediate impact.
· Highly collaborative person, comfortable with conflict and debate normally associated with change.
· Critical thinker with the ability to bring others along, even those with conflicting priorities.
· Impactful communicator from the shop floor to the boardroom.
· A global executive serving as part of a virtual team; while the right candidate can live anywhere, GE’s hubs are in London, Paris, Atlanta, Boston, Schenectady, Cincinnati, Switzerland, Shanghai, Singapore, etc.
