Senior Contracts Manager
The candidate will be responsible to work with the SPS Director of Contracting and SPS Contracting team to negotiate complex and simple agreements, enhance the University's strategic partnerships with industrial and Federal entities, and lead a team of contract analysts in negotiating agreements and improving Contracting’s policies and efficiency. Ensure smooth and responsive customer service to University and external partners, in support of the University's research mission. Direct the management of one of the Contract Analyst teams within SPS Contracting. Allocate resources and provide oversight of the negotiation of sponsored program related agreements to meet and exceed faculty expectations for services in support of research activities. Must have Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, English, Law, or a related field. 4 years of legal or contract negotiation experience, preferably transactional in business contract negotiation and development is necessary. Knowledge of Federal, State and University laws, regulations, policies and business practices applicable to contract issues is critical. Knowledge of intellectual property law is essential. Understanding of business environment and business needs in order to resolve their asymmetry with university culture and practices is mandatory. Excellent communication (oral & written), planning, problem-solving, organizational, project management, and customer service skills are needed. Should have a learning orientation to changing technology impacting business processes. Master's Degree or J.D. is preferred. Experience in university research administration or other university experience is beneficial. Previous supervision experience is an asset.
