The Cloud Engineer will focus on providing engineering and operations for existing and future Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments. They will work closely with the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. application teams that leverage GCP for development and hosting of their data platforms. This position will serve on a broader team of technology professionals, cooperatively designing and enhancing systems, developing standards, and creating robust technology solutions that deliver real business value to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***..

The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated experience in managing and supporting an enterprise and will have very strong knowledge of cloud technologies, automation and highly available and secure designs.

Key position responsibilities include:
1. Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS)
Provide operational support for use cases leveraging PaaS in the public cloud
Automate and provision PaaS services in public clouds leveraged by **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.
Research and document patterns for new PaaS services that are introduced
Provide consulting for app teams that require guidance on PaaS services and consumption
Participate in the design of solutions leveraging PaaS
Maintain a high level of operational readiness through highly available and redundant designs
Manage and maintain existing use cases leveraging PaaS services
2. Public cloud security and networking
Implement and leverage network security controls for each use case (next-gen firewalls, WAFs, API GW’s, SDN’s, etc.)
Define, provision and document proper security controls for PaaS services
Ensure that cloud services are secured by monitoring security vulnerabilities and remediating
Design cloud networks with the assistance of network engineers and cloud architects
Implement network automation for fully automated application deployments
3. Cloud governance
Ensure all cloud services are optimized and automated for cost containment
Follow Cloud Operating Model for all cloud use cases
Basic Qualifications:
8 or more years of experience working with compute, storage, network and virtualization technologies
3 or more years implementing and supporting cloud technologies
3 or more years of scripting experience to automate cloud and infrastructure deployments
Strong familiarity with systems management processes and standards in addition to change, capacity and performance management
Experience with public and hybrid cloud infrastructure (preferably Azure, GCP and AWS)
Experience implementing and using automation and configuration management tools (such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef)
Experience in at least one scripting language (such as Perl, Linux / Unix shell scripting, Python, others)
Experience with storage, network, and security technologies as they relate to server hardware and OS
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's or advanced degree in IT, Computer Science or related field
Clear understanding of cloud services provided by major vendors and experience integrating private and public clouds
Conceptual understanding of Agile and DevOps culture
Experience implementing CI / CD and DevOps philosophies and working with infrastructure-as-code
Experience working in a cross functional team in an enterprise IT environment
Experience collaborating and communicating across IT teams, departments and with internal and external customers
Excellent communication and people skills
