Assistant General Counsel
Duties: Provides legal representation and advice to the University and all of its constituent parts, including the Board of Trustees, the President, Provost, faculty and academic departments, the Office of Research, Student Life, the Department of Public Safety, the Office of Business and Finance, and The State University Medical Center and James Cancer Hospital, among others. As one of the largest universities in the nation, State is a multifaceted institution, with a sophisticated and leading-edge legal practice that touches nearly every area of law, including litigation, labor and employment, public contracting, intellectual property, research and technology transfer, business transactions, taxation and benefits, administrative law, health care law, public safety and criminal law matters, federal and state constitutional and public law issues, and more. Will focus on providing legal advice and services to the Center on a broad range of business and transactional matters. Assisting senior and associate-level attorneys and working independently, the highly-motivated individual in this role will provide legal guidance and services in areas that include, without limitation, practitioner employment and alignment, purchase and sale of services, clinical and academic collaborations, data use and privacy, compliance and accreditation, and research. Responsibilities will also include providing legal advice, contractual review, training, and representation to academic units within the health sciences colleges.
