Systems Test Engineer

Range Networks (****is defining the technology that will serve the world's next billion cellular subscribers, a population that cannot be served profitably or sustainably with conventional approaches. We are bringing a new vision to the cellular world with a flexible architecture based on commercial open source software and our customers are on every continent.

This position is based in our corporate head office in San Francisco (SOMA district, a block from CalTrain.)

Responsibilities:

* Ownership of all software, hardware, and system testing
* Knowledge of cellular specifications and performance standards.
* Implementation of an automated software testing fixture for software release verification
* Implementation of test fixtures for software development team.
* Design of environmental test fixtures for hardware components
* Design of a production test procedures and associated fixtures
* Providing detailed feedback to development team, potentially through a bug tracking system (e.g. Trac)
* Assist in system staging for key projects/customers

Basic Requirements:

* Knowledge of RF, radio technologies, duplexer, amplifiers, antennas, etc.
* Knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl, Python, bash, etc.
* Knowledge of linux-based operating systems
* 5-10 years experience in testing hardware systems, especially systems that involve RF technologies.
* Self-starter
- BSEE or other related engineering degree

Desired Skills:

* Experience with software, particularly C and multithreaded applications
* Experience with cellular radio networks and associated performance metrics and compliance standards
* Experience with environmental testing, e.g. temperature, humidity, vibration, etc.
* Experience with SIP, VoIP, SIP-based switches (e.g. Asterisk, FreeSWITCH)
