General Summary
In accordance with established policies and procedures folds clean, dried linen. Will work with equipment such as ironers, small piece folders, and lift tables for folding linen by hand.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1.* Set up and prepare all equipment to make the proper folds for the linen item being folded per established policies and procedures.
2.* Folds clean dried linen by hand, by feeding into an ironer, or by feeding into small piece folders and sent into the conveyor belt for further handling.
3.* Folds linen items as directed by the Plant Manager or his/her designee.
4.* Monitors the quality of folding by equipment so that if problems with folds are detected the Manager-Laundry Equipment will be notified as soon as possible to make necessary corrections or repairs.
5.* Monitors the quality of the linen being folded so that if linen is coming to them that is unsuitable to be sent to our customers, the Plant Manager can be notified as soon as possible to remedy the problem.
6.* Assures linen arriving on the conveyor belt to the Cart Builder is folded properly so that it can be placed without corrective folding directly onto a clean linen cart ready for shipping.
7.* Keeps accurate record of all linen folded through the use of counters on the equipment or on paper. ','!*!Education:
 
Basic reading and writing skills in accordance with elementary level of education in order to understand and use chemical labels, MSDS sheets, OSHA guidelines, isolation procedures, written procedures, and department policies. Basic knowledge of computer skills is helpful.
 


Physical Demands
 Requires continuous standing and walking 100% of the time. Requires pulling, bending, stretching, and lifting up to 35 pounds for 10% of the time.
Working Conditions
1. Work is performed in a commercial laundry setting 80% where conditions are humid, noisy, wet, and hot or cold depending on outside weather.
2. Work involves exposure to hazards 50% due to the fact that linen being handled comes from healthcare facilities. Must follow departmental safety policies and procedures to reduce hazard potential.
