Job Summary
The Digital Product Design Team is needing a Senior User Experience/User Interface (UX/UI) Designer to participate in a variety of UX/UI activities that lead to best in class user experiences for end users across our various digital properties. They will work cross-functionally to contribute to the development of frictionless/meaningful user experiences leveraging and promoting the design system. This position promotes/supports research, competitive/comparative analysis, design and usability testing activities along with supporting documentation for project related activities and tasks. This role participates in and is a contributor to the creation of visual interactive user experiences that play a central role in future development efforts. They follow UX/UI design standards, guidelines and strategies that will serve as the foundation for creating cohesive experiences. The Senior UX/UI Designer supports the UX/UI department strategy, the integration of the user experience team and these concepts within UPS, and multiple project deliverables across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
Leads the creation of a logical/easily navigable user experience, including user interfaces, navigational rules, information organization, design system and language application as well as user experience and user interface enhancements as it relates to the customer’s experience on UPS.com/digital touchpoints
Uses industry standard design methodologies, usability study analytics, and website heuristics to design interactive touchpoints for UPS.com
Supervises UX/UI designers, copywriters and vendors depending on project needs
Monitors the industry to gain knowledge and understanding of emerging technologies
Identifies new and emerging UX/UI design strategies, research techniques, and user trends to maintain industry competitiveness
Contributes to intuitive, engaging design solutions to satisfy various user experiences including websites, native mobile, product user interfaces, other digital initiatives, and all points in between (i.e., wireframes, flows, mockups and visual prototypes)
Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure that designs are successfully created and implemented to achieve the user goals
Optimizes existing user interface designs and combines creativity with an awareness of the design elements to create new ones
Develops technical and business requirements and always strives to deliver intuitive and user-centered solutions
Monitors project activities to ensure governance, standards, and policies compliance
Promotes testing of new ideas before implementing
Communicates and documents research, analysis, and test results to ensure consistency and accuracy
Documents newly created interaction models, user/task flows and screen designs to ensure consistency, reusability, and future optimization
Facilitates collaboration among stakeholders to achieve project goals and objectives
Clearly communicates and prepares proper presentations to provide timely updates
Preferences
Demonstrates a basic understanding of the different channels available for communication; explains the importance of timely and relevant communication
Uses the research problem to guide relevant data gathering and benchmarking; minimizes personal biases that may impact the research process/outcomes and gathers data that represent all sides of the business case
Develops project management plans and leads the implementation for basic projects of short duration requiring limited coordination and resources; manages minimal organizational resistance to cross-functional project demands; employs project management tools and technology (e.g., Microsoft Project, Program Management Group website, etc.)
Uses the appropriate style, level of detail, grammar, and organization of thought in technical writing; drafts standard specialized or technical documents using templates and job aids
Leverages technological knowledge to achieve business objectives; resolves technological issues impeding work and recommends changes to technological approach based upon knowledge of trends and best practices
