Daily Responsibilities
SRA has opportunities for Database Administrators of all levels for an upcoming project to start early 2013. Our team is looking for forward thinking IT specialists interested in providing world class support to the scientific research community of the National Cancer Institute. You will provide critical project support, service monitoring and restoration, testing and troubleshooting to the entire NCI user community including scientists, senior managers, office administrators, researchers and laboratory support staff. As a member of our team, you will use your expert skills to provide a variety of services including support of day to day IT service operations, special projects and resolution of complex computing issues. As a member of our team you will enhance the health care capabilities of a high performance organization leveraging technology including computational intensive computing infrastructure support, high speed network management, multiple vendor desktop
computer services and helpdesk.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Maintenance of Relational Database infrastructure, software, upgrades and patches
* Maintenance of all NCI CBIIT supported database solutions
* Monitoring and response for all database systems
* Database capacity planning resource utilization monitoring and management
* Backup and recovery procedures
* Design and implementation of database security strategies for user access levels
* Database structure, auditing, patch management other tasks as need to ensure regulatory compliance and a proactive security posture
* User account administration
* Analysis and tuning to maintain and enhance database operations and integrity
* SQL and UNIX shell script development
* Support for client connectivity to the database
* Technical assistance to application developers and end-users

o Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional
o Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL Database Administrator
o Microsoft Certified Technology IT Professional (MSITP) for SQL Server 2008
o PostgreSQL Plus Certification
