Description

The Group Medicare Associate Director, Financial Underwriting leads a team that computes rates for both renewing and prospective moderate to complex group accounts and performs the peer review on those groups. The Group Medicare Associate Director, Financial Underwriting requires a solid understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across departments.

Responsibilities

The Group Medicare Associate Director, Financial Underwriting prepares a variety of financial reports for senior leaders and provides rationale and support to other areas within the organization and to clients regarding rate computations and financial activity. Provides accurate analysis of financial exhibits. Decisions are typically related to identifying and resolving complex technical and operational problems.

Role Responsibilities


Has a thorough understanding of the Group Medicare guidelines and processes
Peer Reviews complex quotes
Collaborates well with internal business partners such as Sales and Actuarial daily
Communicates clearly with external business partners such as brokers/consultants/client
Leads several projects within our department and across multiple departments
Assists in monitoring the overall block of business experience
Has a team of 6 underwriters reporting to you


Required Qualifications


Bachelor's degree
6 or more years of underwriting or financial analysis/risk analysis experience
Comprehensive understanding of risk pool management
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
2 or more years of management experience of people or projects
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences


Preferred Qualifications


Master's Degree
Experience underwriting rates for complex accounts
Experience analyzing a wide variety of health or claims related data
Experience leading others involved in underwriting procedures
