Our BioPharma strategy uniquely combines the reach and resources of a major pharma company with the entrepreneurial spirit and agility of a successful biotech company. We focus on developing our pipeline drugs with innovative, differentiated, patient-centric medicines for patients with severe unmet medical need.
We are looking to hire a talented, highly motivated individual as a Research Investigator in Drug Product Development department to conduct innovative drug delivery research to address delivery issues covering a wide range of modalities (small molecules, peptides, biologic and nucleic acids) delivered by injectable, oral or alternate routes of administration. The central focus of this role will be to experimentally explore novel delivery strategies to resolve specific delivery problems, conduct bioperformance testing, and build in vitro-in vivo understanding to enable the design and development of differentiated drug products for clinical testing.
Job Responsibilities:
Support development of new molecular entities through conducting biopharmaceutical research on innovative drug delivery systems using in vitro and in vivo methodology.
Work collaboratively with formulators to explore novel formulation technologies such as extended release polymer, gel, or lipid-based injectables, targeted drug delivery and new routes of administration
Design and conduct bioperformance experimentation such as in vitro drug release and contribute to pharmacokinetic (PK) studies in animals.
Collaborate with team members to understand material characteristics of the drug delivery system, conduct analytical quantitation, and assess the impact on in vitro & in vivo performance.
Work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment to execute studies in a timely manner, conduct data analysis and present findings.
Broadly apply drug delivery concepts to a variety of modalities (small molecules, peptides, biologics, and nucleic acids) that can span a variety of routes of administration.
Requirements/Education:
Ph. D. with 0-4 years of experience in pharmaceutical sciences, biotechnology or related field. The applicant must have solid fundamental knowledge of drug delivery and biopharmaceutics through academic or prior industry experience.
Hands on experience with the development of a polymer or lipid-based drug delivery system such as micro/nano particles, polymer gels, liposomes/lipid nanoparticles, along with methodology to assess performance in vitro and in vivo PK is required.
Independent study conduct and proficiency in analyzing / interpreting experimental data, running analytical techniques such as HPLC/ UPLC-UV, size-exclusion chromatography, UV/fluorescence spectrometry, and common characterization techniques is highly desirable.
Familiarity with the biology/physiology of the site of delivery and the interaction with the drug delivery system is preferred.
The candidate must possess strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to function as an effective team player in a highly collaborative matrix team environment, and interface with internal and external partners to drive team deliverables forward.
