General Counsel
The candidate will be responsible for: Provides legal opinions, legal interpretations, and recommendations to the Superintendent and district administration for the purpose of ensuring the district maintains compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Reviews, edits, and creates district documents for the purpose of conveying information to both internal and external entities in a legally compliant manner. Exercise considerable judgment in capacity with the responsibility for analyzing policy issues, identifying District-wide impacts and coordinating responses to the Superintendent on strategies and alternatives for dealing with the issues. Coordinate and play a lead role in government relations with the Superintendent’s office and the District. Advises district staff concerning legal matters for the purpose of maintaining the district in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Participates in key meetings with faculty, administrators and others as needed and delegated by the Superintendent. Accurately represent the Superintendent‘s position in internal meetings and discussions to help drive understanding and move decision-making forward. Provides staff development for the purpose of educating others on their legal responsibilities. Maintains and catalogues legal documents and contracts for the purpose of ensuring accurate reference materials. And all Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. Must have Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited University. Experience as a teacher or administrator in Public Education is a plus. Must have experience with government relations and external relations. Must be licensed to practice law in Oklahoma.
