Yard CDL Driver

Profile

This is a driver position responsible for the transport and delivery of freight on time in a professional manner by driving diesel-powered tractor/trailer combinations short and long distances, while complying with Department of Transportation rules and regulations, maintaining a safe work environment, and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

To help in the movement of trucks and trailers on the plant grounds, including driving, preparing trailers for loading, and other various duties dealing with shipping. Driver will move trailers to the designated locations around the plant as requested in a timely manner, complete a daily trailer inventory, perform trailer temperature checks, pre-chill the trailers as needed for loading. Work with the other yard drivers to keep trailers in correct storage locations, and wash trailers if needed. May have other duties as the workload requires or as required by the supervisor.

Requirements: A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License in the state of Texas and able to meet Tyson Minimum Driver Standards are required to make trips off yard several times daily. Must be willing to use forklifts and pallet jacks. Will communicate with lead and Management regarding tasks, safety and other related information of the position. Must be able to complete safety checks. Must be willing to push, pull, or lift, occasionally, up to 50lbs.throughout shift. Must be willing to work in a changing environment that can fluctuate between approximately 20 degrees and 110 degrees. Must follow all USDA and Tyson Good Manufacturing Practices. Must be able to meet the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations if needed. May have other duties as the workload requires or as required by the supervisor.

TYSON MINIMUM CDL QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

At least 21 years of age; Appropriate driver’s license for type of vehicle that will be operated; Twelve (12) months verified experience in like vehicle or nine (9) months, if the experience is in the last twelve (12) months; No DUI/DWI conviction in the past eight (8) years in a personal vehicle; No DUI/DWI conviction in a Commercial Motor Vehicle ever; No disqualifying number of accidents or convictions as determined according to the current Tyson Driver Evaluation System Procedure; No DOT Drug or Alcohol Violation within the past three (3) years, including the following Roadside Inspection Violations (see Fleet Location PSP Process)identified on a PSP report:

·392.4(a) possessing, using or being under the influence of a controlled substance; or

·392.5(a) possessing, being under the influence of, or using alcohol within four (4) hours of going on duty

No known DOT Drug or Alcohol Violation(s) prior to the past three (3) years, unless the NOTICE OF PRIOR DRUG AND/OR ALCOHOL VIOLATION FORM is provided to the driver, has been returned with all required information, and has been reviewed and approved by the DER; No known DOT Drug and/or Alcohol Violation(s) identified in a full query from the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse that indicates that the driver has not completed the return-to-duty requirements, including a negative return-to-duty test and all required follow-up tests; No Roadside Inspection Violations (see Fleet Location PSP Process)for the following regulatory requirements within the past three (3) years identified on a PSP report:

·395.13(d) Jumping/Running a driver out of service order; or

·396.9(c) Jumping/Running a vehicle out of service order

Ensure drivers hired for Hazmat have a CDL with a Hazmat endorsement and criminal background check, to verify 7-year felony history, before operation of the commercial motor vehicle; Meet all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requirements including, but not limited to, being medically qualified, passing a DOT pre-employment drug screen, and passing a road test.
