Director, Teaching Support
The candidate serves as the key liaison for teaching support for all tenure line, clinical and adjunct faculty at Kellogg School of Management. Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Dean for Curriculum and Teaching, support oversees the design and execution of all new Teaching Support program offerings to Kellogg Faculty as well as manages all existing support services and resources to ensure continuous improvement and innovation. Implements key strategic and operational initiatives on an on-going basis, bringing together appropriate individuals and resources to accomplish the Senior Associate Dean’s priorities. In partnership with the Senior Associate Dean of Curriculum and Teaching, develops the Kellogg Teaching Support vision, mission and operating principles, including the overall strategic plan and planning process. Develops innovative strategies for improving Kellogg teaching faculty platform skills through executive coaching, relevant teaching workshops, and mock classroom preparation activities. Works with Kellogg Marketing and Communications, Admissions, Student Life, and Career Services teams to ensure appropriate messaging and coordination for Teaching Support priorities and initiatives. Resolves complex problems impacting instructional performance at Kellogg. Works with the Senior Associate Dean of Curriculum and Teaching to define, execute and deliver on the strategic direction and mission of teaching support. Pursues new opportunities for integrating emergent instructional technologies into the Kellogg classroom; collaborates with Kellogg Information Systems for successful deployment and implementation. Improves reported student classroom satisfaction outcomes by focusing on the improvement of MBA Teaching quality through increased administrative support for Kellogg Faculty Teachers. Improves availability of and access to teaching assistants and graders. Proactively connects new faculty to available services and support structures as an important part of the faculty on-boarding process Strengthens Kellogg Dean’s office relationship and interactions with key constituents, including advisory board members, senior academic and administrative teams, faculty, staff, and students. Exercises considerable discretion and judgment on a regular basis. Works collaboratively with Faculty, and administrative units connected to the teaching mission such as Faculty Support, Faculty Affairs, Curriculum Planning, Case Publishing, and Research Support to accomplish joint initiatives. Leads and manages efforts to create a collaborative and diverse environment in which the optimal level of participant interaction is achieved. Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Also be expected to influence without direct authority as they will have dotted line oversight to staff that may report to other leadership groups in departments with in-direct, but matrixed relationships into the Academic Operations administrative organization. Other duties and special projects as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.
