Job Title: Associate Scientist - Protein Purification (Temporary)
Location: Research Labs, South San Francisco, CA
Duration: 12 months (with possibility of extension)
Responsibilities:
Assist the protein production group in routine activities related to purification and characterization of proteins.
Prepare formulation and analytical buffers for scientists and maintain laboratory equipment.
Support lab manager in work order submission and technician supervision.
Perform sample vialing and labeling.
Assist in sub-aliquoting purified proteins.
Support protein expression group in basic cell culture activities.
Perform daily priming for Caliper instrument.
Document data in an electronic lab notebook.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or life sciences.
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in wet lab work.
Experience in basic protein purification and characterization techniques.
Proficiency in calculating protein concentrations and dilutions.
Familiarity with single- and multi-channel manual pipettes.
Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to follow written procedures and work independently.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Key Skills:
AKTA purification system
Protein purification experience
Protein A antibody purification preferred
Protein characterization experience with HPLC
