Associate Vice President, Institutional Compliance & Risk
Duties: Create and oversee a cross-functional enterprise risk management committee. Oversee and coordinate risk and compliance program that minimizes overall institutional risk and promotes a culture of compliance in accordance with the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and responsibility across the University community. Innovate to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor the University’s operational and strategic risks. Ensure program creates corrective action recommendations, as needed, to comply with applicable laws, regulations and requirements, including U.S. and international data protection and privacy (GDPR). Develop and implement protocols, per the UMGC compliance framework, including building compliance into workflows, effective awareness, education, policy management and a service-orientation to all stakeholders. Monitor regulatory changes and ensure that units have appropriate policies and procedures in place to ensure effective compliance with applicable USM, UMGC, state, Federal, and international laws and regulations. Collaborate and direct compliance issues to relevant channels for investigation and resolution while consulting with OLA as appropriate. Research, integrate, and recommend changes to reports, policies, charters, and other documentation supporting enterprise risk management and compliance. Lead and guide the day-to-day activities of a team of compliance professionals with a range of skills and subject matter expertise including GDPR. Global oversight of insurance and insurance policies including creating an enterprise-wide repository. Other job-related duties as assigned.
