SUMMARY
Bering Straits Information Technology, LLC, a subsidiary of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is currently seeking a qualified Application Engineer II - SPLUNK in Washington, DC. This position
will provide support to the enterprise in managing the SPLUNK instance on ST security networks. Will demonstrate progressive experience with supporting software products in an IT organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide industry standard expertise in the deployment, configuration, and operation of Splunk and Splunk Enterprise Security
Develop customized dashboards for operations, security and management teams
Review completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and make recommendations to management team
Troubleshoot Splunk performance issues in both a Windows and Linux environment.
Support Splunk on Linux and Windows, on both physical and virtualized platforms.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
Required (Minimum) Qualifications
Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret level security clearance.
Programming and development skills in at least one scripting language, such as the following: Python, Perl, PowerShell, shell scripting, regular expressions.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Solid working technical knowledge of software applications, protocols, and standards
Knowledge of network security measures and applicable data privacy practices and laws
Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory duties do not apply to this position.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
