Director of Equal Opportunity and Title IX Officer

Duties: Development, coordination, and implementation of Vassar's equal employment and educational opportunity and affirmative action policies and programs, and Vassar's compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations. Overseeing investigations of complaints of discrimination or harassment brought by students, faculty, staff and the public; coordinating training and providing information on policies and procedures for employees and students; maintaining up-to-date knowledge and understanding of relevant state and federal laws, regulations, and trends in the field of higher education; preparing annual statistical reports to the President, Board of Trustees, and others in the campus community on incidences of sexual offense and claims of discrimination or harassment; serving as a liaison to government officials; and participating in appropriate college committees. Works in collaboration with: the Faculty Director of Affirmative Action, who holds primary responsibility for equal opportunity and affirmative action (EOAA) matters involving the faculty; Human Resources professionals on EOAA matters involving non-faculty employees; senior officers; and legal counsel as appropriate. This position reports directly to the Dean of Faculty, with dotted line report to the President for college-wide matters, to the Dean of the College for student-related matters, and to the Vice President for Finance and Administration for legal and liability matters. This position supervises the Title IX Investigator. The role has the primary responsibility to ensure comprehensive educational and training initiatives are developed and delivered and provides technical expertise and guidance in support of the college's commitment and obligations under Title IX, Title VII, ADA 504, the Clery Act and a variety of federal and state laws.
