Paralegal Specialist - CDC
Duties: The candidate will, under the direction of the Chief Division Counsel (CDC), carry out a variety of complex analytical research and procedural duties to provide legal assistance to the CDC and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of operations within the legal unit of the field office. Will work with reviewing case information, researching and summarizing relevant legal material, and providing paralegal instruction and guidance to investigative personnel. Perform analysis and substantive development of information concerning, or related to legal matters arising from automobile accidents, property damage and casualty claims, subpoena matters, and Freedom of Information Act requests. Determine negligence and composes demand letters and other correspondence. Process administrative claims resulting from automobile accidents and other torts. Conduct research for preparation of legal opinions on matters of interest to the agency. Perform substantive legal analysis of requests for information under the provisions of various acts. Assist in preparing litigation reports and affidavits in connection with lawsuits filed against the Bureau.
