Director, Federal Government Relations
The candidate will help build and lead federal government relations team. Reporting to the Head of Government Relations, will guide government relations strategy at the federal level, executing an ambitious agenda and making an immediate impact on a fast-growing, dynamic business. Help build emerging federal practice and craft and execute our legislative and political strategy at the federal level. Build relationships with members of Congress, the executive branch including key cabinet agencies, and staff. Represent at congressional and regulatory hearings, including by providing testimony. Participate in trade groups and industry associations on behalf of the company. Work with other members of the policy team to mobilize the Dasher, merchant, and customer communities in support of political strategy. Collaborate with policy development leads to craft policy solutions that serve our community while meeting political realities. Manage external political consultants. Coordinate with counterparts at peer companies to build effective coalitions. Coordinate with industry trade associations to maximize their effectiveness. Have a JD or Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Affairs, Government, Public Affairs, related field, or equivalent practical experience. Have 10+ years of Public Policy or Government experience. Have a deep understanding of government relations, including effective lobbying strategies, grassroots organizing, and the mechanics of policy-making. A strong strategic thinker with polished written and oral advocacy skills. Government and in-house experience preferred. Direct policy experience in employment/labor law preferred. Association and coalition development and management preferred. Experience in the tech industry, particularly the on-demand economy preferred.
