Senior EO Attorney/Of Counsel
The candidate' must have a minimum of 7 years of nonprofit tax law experience. Qualified candidates should have experience with the range of legal issues that nonprofit organizations and the funders and individuals who support them typically confront, including seeking and maintaining tax exemption; relationships among affiliated organizations such as 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and 527 organizations; lobbying and political campaign activities; and the special rules governing private foundations. Familiarity with campaign finance law is also desirable. In addition to nonprofit tax work, the attorney may advise clients about topics such as structural and governance issues; fundraising contracts and compliance with state and federal laws; contract and lease review and drafting; intellectual property questions, such as trademark and copyright; legal issues related to the Internet and other electronic media; and insurance issues. Experience in any of these areas is not required but is a plus.
