The Global Competitive Intelligence Lead will be responsible for generating, integrating and translating insights and analytics into growth opportunities and tactics that help guide decisions and drive organizational action within **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***..  This leadership position will work closely with Therapeutic Area Leadership Teams (TALTs), Global Commercial Insights, Analytics and Forecasting to provide relevant, timely and actionable industry and industry analysis as input to our Commercial Evaluation process for investment related decision making.

The incumbent will primarily lead CI activities supporting the Global Immunology team, and may include CI support for plasma, Cardiovascular & Metabolic and Respiratory TAs.

The position will require correspondence and presentations to Senior and Executive management with intent of leveraging industry insights for appropriate life cycle management, global commercialization of our inline and pipeline portfolios across CSL. The scope is global and entails close collaboration across many functional areas spanning TALTs, regional commercial operations, Finance, R&D, Clinical Development, and Medical Affairs.

The incumbent will guide internal decision-making and provide input to strategic planning efforts while sensitizing internal stakeholders to evolving industry dynamics and related impact to our strategic outlook.  This person must be able to integrate and cross analyze various types of quantitative and qualitative information from multiple sources into comprehensive evaluations & well supported recommendations that are relevant, timely and actionable for product commercialization and strategy development.

The position also entails close management external competitive intelligence vendors (including project negotiations, sourcing, procurement, and invoicing).

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Functional CI Leadership

rnrn

Generates, integrates and translate insights and analysis to provide critical understanding of competitive strategy, industry related activities and implications to our business and our strategy development.

• Primary point of CI contact across several TAs (including, but not limited to, Immunology, Respiratory, CVM).  Responsible for defining and implementing a competitive intelligence and analytics framework while ensuring appropriate integration into workflows.

• Oversees external partners  Responsible for project output, provides guidance, direction and feedback as appropriate.

• Ensures efficient / cost effective use of external networks/partners (customers, agencies).
rnt
• Focuses on operational efficiencies and quality enhancements via identification of more efficient analytical methods, tools and / or systems.

Analysis

Identifies, analyzes and leads the generation of targeted industry analysis working across TALTs and GCIA (Global Commercial Insights & Analytics) as input to commercialization planning, decision making & strategy development.

• Contributes to Stagegate and early-stage asset review initiatives

• Responsible for competitive market landscapes and detailed pipelines to inform investment decisions

• Contributes to franchise / brand strategy development
rnt
• Interprets and analyzes competitor strategies for integration into brand strategy development; pressure tests sustainability of brand strategic plans accordingly.

• Conducts primary CI industry research to identify and analyze key threats and opportunities and advises on action planning / competitor response strategy development.

• Leverages internal knowledge and experts as needed to evaluate implications of key competitor threats and / or opportunities.

Intelligence Resource Optimization

Assists in new initiatives to develop competitive intelligence-related tracking and monitoring tools

• With Enterprise Analytics, drive the development of internally-developed competitive tracking tools

• Serves as the subject matter expert on the competitive tracking needs of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.

• Provides testing and guidance related to tool usability

• Continuously evaluates new tools, methodologies and analytical techniques and leverages industry best practices to ensure high quality, timely and cost effective outputs

• Monitors, controls and negotiates with key subscription providers and CI agencies to ensure the cost effective use of resources.

Position Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

• BA or BS is required; Advanced degree is preferred. 
rnt
• 8-10 years of business related experience.  Minimum of 7 years in competitive intelligence / 2 years in CI management role.  Minimum 3 years of advanced analytics experience.  Minimum 5 years in secondary market research.  5 years of experience in managing and overseeing consultants/vendors.  Some travel required (as needed).

• Pharmaceutical and / or biotech industry experience required; Experience in any of the following preferred: Immunology, CVM and Respiratory

• Superior analytical skills applicable to Competitive Intelligence & related analysis.

• Demonstrated secondary research skills with ability to interpret and leverage insights appropriately. 
rnt
• Ability to apply appropriate analytical techniques and identification and use of reliable information sources and validation methods.  Advanced analytics experience a plus.

• Strategic thinker with ability to advise on long-range plans and contribute to future business strategies.

• Demonstrated work experience across multi-disciplinary / global cross-functional teams. 
rnt
• Experience in process design / management of systems and databases.
