Summary of Duties & Job Description

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager that is passionate about technology and leading a team to solve data challenges in healthcare. Our team is building the Enterprise Data Platform that democratizes data and accelerates innovation. The Software Engineering Manager will work with product owners, architects, and engineers to deliver platform features, as well as guiding and supporting individual engineer growth.

Responsibilities


Work with Product Owners / Technical Product Owners to define and drive teams' technology vision and roadmap
Work with Architects and Tech leads to establish solid architecture
Work with Agile Leaders to ensure practical delivery plan; clears obstacles timely for the team while empowering and enabling others
Controls project risks by analyzing and identifying trigger events, establishing response and contingency plans and recommending ways to mitigate future risks
Ensures the alignment, buy-in, and support of diverse stakeholders by building and maintaining trusting relationships with internal customers, third-party vendors, and senior management
Hires, trains, and develops talent for growth opportunities
Leads team through all technology solution development phases by ensuring team understands and adheres to company methodology, policies, standards, and controls
Provides leadership to the team by attracting and hiring talented individuals, setting goals and communicating clear expectations, providing timely and constructive feedback as well as meaningful developmental opportunities, managing performance, providing resources and support as needed, and sponsoring and leading team members through change


Skills and Qualifications

Required:


Experience in managing software development with a strong track record of on-time delivery for large, cross-functional projects - Deep understanding of best engineering practices for the full software development life cycle (SDLC), such as good coding standards, TDD (Test Driven Development), build and deploy best practices
Hadoop, Spark - experience in Big Data Tech preferred
Experience of working in a large program, navigating through complexities and competing priorities from multiple teams and facilitate cross functional team efforts
Experience with agile software development methodologies
Basic Knowledge with could technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure etc.). Excellence in at least one of these is highly desirable
Knowledge with at least one mainstream programming language, such as Java or Python
Knowledge of distributed software architecture, such as microservices
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
5 or more years of technical experience
3 or more years of leadership experience


Desirables


Knowledge and understanding with basic data analytics / machine learning workflow is a plus
Knowledge and experience with healthcare information technology is a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
